The 5 Biggest Money Mistakes Women Make

Let’s face it, 50 years ago, women didn’t have many options when it came to money. We were told to marry well, keep your man satisfied and hope for the best.

We didn’t have control over our own destiny.

Up until the late 1970s women couldn’t have their own credit card or bank account without a man co-signing their application.

We didn’t have the strong empowered female role models we have today like Sarah Blakely, Oprah Winfrey, Trinny Woodall, or Whitney Wolfe Herd.

Thankfully, it’s now 2022 and those days are over!

It’s time to take control of your own financial destiny. You can and will have whatever you desire but first, you need to allow yourself to tap into those desires, your creativity, and your drive.

Once you know what lights you up, go for it. Here are 5 of the Most Common Money Mistakes Women Make. Be aware of them so that you can move towards your dreams with more ease and grace…

1. Thinking Small

Generally speaking, boys grow up being told to ‘take charge’ and ‘make it happen’. Girls grow up being advised to be careful, safe, and ‘nice’. Research shows that as a result, women are more cautious when it comes to making decisions about their career and their money than men. It’s time to unlearn this! Aim high, back yourself and listen to your strongest asset as a women - your intuition. Start with my free Goal Setting Guide.

2 Doing Nothing

Because we’ve been trained to be cautious, safe, and ‘nice’, when we’re faced with a decision we don’t feel we have enough information or understanding on, we simply put it off. When it comes to your money, doing nothing is probably the worst thing you can do. Money loves to be put to work. If you have money just sitting there, it WILL deplete in value by way of inflation. If you have debt accumulating, it’s not going to fix itself. You need a plan. A written plan. Start by looking at where you stand financially as at today. 3 Under-charging

Self-worth is a huge money block for women. Most of us have that little voice in our heads saying ‘who am I to charge for this?’ - especially when your work is something you love or comes easily to you. Playing it safe won’t make you rich. Being rich WILL help you help others. You’re doing the world a disservice by not charging your worth. Clients will value your work more once you do! 4 Over-delivering

Another casualty of putting others before ourselves. Women have a tendency to overdeliver in business and home life. Making money doesn't have to be hard. Look at where you’re spending time with a fresh pair of eyes. What’s your time worth? Can you make life easier for yourself by hiring help at home or in the office? That help usually costs much less than your time. You can then spend your time on tasks that really matter and bring more wealth in. When you bring more wealth in, you have the ability to help more people!

5 Being Invisible

These days, people want to connect with a human rather than a corporation. Being visible in business and career can be a massive trigger for women. For thousands of years, it’s been unsafe for women to ‘be seen’ as strong, unique, or independent. It was always safer for us to be part of the tribe and under the radar. Men used to set the rules and they didn’t like strong women they couldn’t control (no offense to today’s men). Personally, it’s taken me quite some time to become visible in my own business. I got over this by looking at my fears. What was the worst that could happen if I was truly ‘seen’ in my business? I quickly discovered my fears were unfounded. I am safe. I am empowered. The only one stopping me from my success was me. Find out more about how your beliefs may be holding you back HERE.

Remember, YOU are in control of your own financial destiny.

Take responsibility.

Take action.

If you’re part of a partnership/marriage be involved in financial decisions.

In any case, it’s safe for you to make your own money. It’s safe for you to take part in your own finances.

There is an unlimited abundance of wealth out there in the world and it’s available for you. You having more does not mean there’s any less for others, but, it’s NOT going to fall into your lap until you take action and it won’t STAY in your life unless you know you deserve it. So please work on your money mindset, your self-worth, and your deservedness of wealth. Our female ancestors worked hard for the rights we have today.
