5 Ways You're Sabotaging Your Money
Sabotage
to deliberately destroy, damage, or obstruct (something).
Sounds dramatic but when it comes to money, everyone’s experienced a sabotage response that doesn't make sense. It's frustrating because you know deep down, it's wrong and irrational, yet you can't seem to stop!
Why? Because money is emotional. You may have every intention in the world to change your money habits but unless you tackle your mindset, any changes you make will never stick.
The human brain is wired to stick with the familiar and avoid change at all costs. This trait is especially strong when it comes to women and money because, for women, money represents safety.
Let’s take a look at the Five most likely Ways You’re Sabotaging Your Money right now and what you can do to fix it.
1 Not having a plan
If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll end up somewhere else. Somewhere you may not want to be. 80% of people don’t think about their money goals - which is probably why 80% of people are no good with money.
Plans and goals are exciting not scary! They can’t hurt you and they’re not set in stone so don’t worry about getting it wrong. ANY plan is better than none. SO set a timer for 5 minutes and start! Where do you desire to be this time next year?

2 Paying Yourself Last
Have you heard of “The Dinner Plate Theory”? If you have a big plate, you’re going to want to eat everything on it. No one likes waste. The Dinner Plate Theory confirms that if you want to eat less, start with a smaller plate.
The same applies to your spending.
Most people “eat” 100% of their income whether they mean to or not. If you want to spend less and save/ invest more, start by removing the temptation to eat your income. You can do this by setting up an automatic transfer every payday from your bank account to a savings/brokerage account at a separate banking institution.
Out of sight out of mind.
You’ll build up that separate account faster than you think and you won’t even notice going without!
I have lots of helpful resources for you HERE.
3 Avoiding Money Conversations
Do you find it awkward asking for money owed to you, negotiating a raise, or stating your prices?
You’re not alone. This is the BIGGEST money block for most women. It all comes back to self-worth. That little voice in the back of your head that says “who am I to receive more"?
Not surprising considering women have been financially repressed for thousands of years. Times have changed, but we’ve energetically inherited the story it’s not safe for us to “receive”. It’s time to clear this.
Start working on this with my Financial Abundance Meditation.
4 Not Charging Your Worth
Similar to the self-worth piece above. Research proves that women are more honest than men when it comes to verifying their skill sets. They’re also less likely to ask for a raise unless they truly believe they can deliver.
Here’s the thing - if you don’t believe you’re worth it, no one else will.
Uncovering and clearing limiting beliefs about your ability to receive money is a game-changer.

5. Not Taking Action
The main reason women tend to put off investing is due to their fear of getting it wrong. This is understandable because money is different for women. Money represents safety - so there’s a lot at stake!
The irony is, women actually make better investors than men. Studies confirm that women thoroughly research their investments and take on less risk. Men on the other hand naturally try to “beat the market”. They invest fast and large. Female investors tend to come out on top.
By not taking action though, you automatically fail.
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take and action creates clarity. So just START! The pressure will drop and the path will appear.
Imagine you’re standing at the edge of the ocean baths ready to dive in. You know the water is going to be cold and it’s going to shock your system, but my God, doesn't it feel good on the other side? Doesn’t it feel empowering knowing you’ve done it - conquered your fear?
Anything new feels uncomfortable at first. But if you’re not willing to do something different 2022 will end up the same if not worse than 2021. This will compound dramatically by 2032.
The choice is yours. You are stronger than you think. You are more brilliant than you think. Believe it. Get used to it. Make it your new normal to dive into your finances with strength and confidence - my proven Money Course will help you with this!
