A Cautionary Tale About Women, Marriage and Money

I want to tell you a story. It’s a story about women, marriage, and money. It’s a story about me.

10 years ago, I was in a marriage I thought was ‘The One’. We lived in a beautiful home, with a pigeon pair of children, a wonderful circle of friends, and a bright future of wealth and happiness as far as the eye could see.

I was living a comfortable life as a mother and a wife. The kind of life society tells us we should strive for.

As a child though, this was not my dream.

My dream was to be an international businesswoman who wore shoulder pads, high heels, and lipstick (yes, I’m a child of the 80’s). I wanted to build an empire and make the world a better place.

As we get older, we tend to lose sight of our true desires and unconsciously trade them in for desires more aligned with our family and culture. After all, humans are innately tribal and want to fit in.

10 years ago, I intuitively knew that I had lost my way. The feeling that I was off track and had “forgotten to do something” was getting stronger and stronger. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t make decisions. Everything was being decided for me – I’d willingly given all my trust to my husband.

Then, out of nowhere, I found out my husband wasn’t who I thought he was. Overnight, my whole world as a wife shattered.

Should I stay or should I go?

In my case, I had to go. There were no other options.

Gasp…

What was I going to do? Where was going to live? How was I going to support my children? Who am I if I’m not a wife?

My husband didn’t want me to leave and made it difficult.

I found myself in a very unfavourable position. You see, even though I was a finance professional (chartered accountant, tax agent, financial planner), I’d left all the decisions and management of our finances to my husband. All of my money (even my own tax practice revenue) came through entities he controlled. I had no safety net.

Now I don’t want to scare anyone – especially those of you in a loving relationship. But no matter what your relationship status, don’t you think it would feel super empowering and safe to know where your money is? Even better, to have your own income streams?

To all the husbands and partners out there, wouldn’t it be nice to know your wife/partner feels safe, secure, and fulfilled when it comes to money? A woman who’s confident, secure and independent is attractive and happy!

It’s a win-win.

It’s my goal to help women feel empowered, safe, and confident about money.

Everyone can do money better.

Let me teach you how. It’s a skill for life.

Love,

P.S.

2021 is almost over! Book yourself a money session, or even better, a spot in my 8 Week Signature Money Program so you can see in 2022 knowing you have your money sorted. My clients LOVE the results they’ve received. Most of them say they didn’t realise just how much better they could do money until they worked with me. They’ve started businesses, investments, and savings plans. They’ve set meaningful goals that they know will be a joy to achieve because they’ve cleared their money blocks.

The fact is “you don’t know what you don’t know”, working on your finances from the inside out means you not only put into place a plan, but by working on your mindset, you also you change your patterns, habits, and beliefs about what’s possible for you.
